1. Why do we use cookies?

The EGEAC website uses cookies to improve navigation and facilitate users’ access to information about our activities; to analyse website usage and evaluate its performance; and to optimise digital marketing initiatives. In order to respect your privacy, our website provides users with the option to reject all cookies or not allow certain types of cookies through the “Set Preferences” option.

2. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website installs on the device that you used to visit the website (a computer or mobile device), which stores multiple pieces of information related to the access device, its preferences, browsing experience on the website, traffic source and access to content, among others. The information collected does not directly identify you, but some cookies may retain personal data, in accordance with the definition established in Article 4(1) of the GDPR.

In this cookie policy, we use the term generically to refer to all files that collect information in this way. However, there are differences between them, as you will see below.

3. Who has access to the cookies installed on your computer?

The EGEAC websites use first-party cookies that are exclusively installed and controlled by EGEAC without interference from external organizations.

4. How long are cookies stored on your computer?

They might be temporary cookies or session cookies which are stored only for the duration of the session on our website. They record user preferences and browsing behaviour patterns. They are automatically deleted when the web browser is closed or when the user exits the website.

Others are persistent cookies which record information between sessions. For example, they record that the user has already acknowledged the privacy policy. These cookies are stored for variable periods, which can range from one day to several years.

In either case, cookies are stored until they expire or until they are deleted by the user.

5. What are the purposes of the “first-party cookies” used on the EGEAC websites?

The EGEAC websites use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Analysis and statistical cookies: these are used anonymously for the purpose of creating and analysing statistical information, aiming to improve the operation and content of the website. The user can reject their installation.
  • Functionality cookies: these store the user’s preferences when visiting the website, so that they do not need to personalise the site every time they visit. The user can reject their installation.
  • Marketing cookies: these collect information about website navigation and traffic source, in order to optimise future digital marketing campaigns. The user can reject their installation.

6. Which external websites provide services to our websites?

Our websites may sometimes include content from external websites such as YouTube and Google.

To access this content, you must accept their specific conditions, including their cookie policies where applicable. EGEAC has no control over these, and the providers of these services may change the conditions of the services and the use and purpose of their cookies at any time.

If you do not view this type of content, third-party cookies will not be installed on your device.

7. How can you manage the cookies on your device?

You can block the creation of cookies by configuring a setting on your Internet browser to refuse the creation of some or all cookies. You also have the option to configure your browser so that you are notified when a cookie is produced.

However, blocking all cookies may limit access to some content or the correct functioning of some websites.

It is also possible to use browser extensions (browser add-ons) to disable the use of certain functions. To prevent Google Analytics from tracking you or keeping a digital trail of the sites you visit, please refer to the information available here.

After cookies have been accepted, it is still possible to withdraw your consent at any time in your internet browser settings. Withdrawing consent has no retroactive effect, meaning it does not delete cookies previously installed on your device. To do so, you must delete cookies on your browser.

You can obtain more information about deleting, disabling, or blocking cookies here.

In the links below, you will find information on how to manage cookies in the most common search engines:

Microsoft Edge
Google Chrome

You can also manage third-party cookies by using resources such as the websites below:

8. What are the users’ right?

For more information regarding your rights, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

EGEAC may change its cookie policy at any time. Whenever a change occurs, the “last updated” date at the bottom of this page will be altered accordingly. The new cookie policy will come into effect from that date.

EGEAC recommends that users of our websites periodically consult our Cookie Policy to remain informed and up-to-date regarding your cookie preferences.
